Designing a Wedding

Oct 25, 2017 | REAL WEDDING, SEATTLE WEDDINGS, WEDDING INSPIRATION

Happy #weddingwednesday friends! We are ITCHING to share this stunning wedding at the remarkable Chihuly Garden and Glass (stay tuned for the feature), but today we offering up a mini peek into the process of designing of a wedding from inspiration to finish.

The process always starts with getting to know our clients, budget, scoping out any secret Pinterest boards the client (likely) already has, and once a very general concept has been established and a venue selected, we roll up our sleeves and hit the drawing boards (erm, MacBooks).

After meeting with our dear clients Rebecca and Garrett, we realized that fusion of past and present was the epicenter of design for Becca and Garrett’s special day. A childhood spent on rural farmland with an appreciation for nature, the organic and the beauty in the Pacific Northwest took center stage as our angle for paying homage to the past. Today, Becca and Garrett live and appreciate an urban lifestyle with modern design and clean lines and so this became the focus of the present. Bringing the two styles together under one roof presented an exciting and inspiring design challenge. In one of the most iconic Seattle locations – Chihuly Garden and Glass, we fused natural and modern elements in a sophisticated manner with the balance of clean lines, organic textures, lush foliage and just enough color to gently echo the rooftop sculpture.

We develop a design concept, turn it into an inspiration board (above) that features the predominate design elements.

Not everyone can conceptualize a design plan, so we like to create mock ups (virtual and/or physical) of different spaces, vignettes, and/or the tablescape to help our clients envision what their day will actually look like. Above, is the ceremony mock up that we created for Becca and Garrett.

Now compare it to the real life version that we brought to fruition with the floral help of Eleanor of Bash and Bloom.

The real McCoy. 🙂

We hope you’ve enjoyed your behind the scenes peek at a few of the design concepts and mock ups from this super fun wedding. We so look forward to sharing the full feature with you in the weeks to come! 🙂

XO- the GATHER girls
