Powerscourt Estate: a Stately Irish Wedding Venue with Renown Gardens

Powerscourt Estate, Irish wedding venue and world renown gardens, south of Dublin. Captured by Kerry Jeanne Photography.

Back in April, we set out with Kerry Jeanne Photography on a tour of stately wedding venues in the greater Dublin area. Powerscourt Estate with its Palladian mansion, formal gardens (that was listed by National Geographic as the third best garden in the world), spectacular views of Sugarloaf Mountain and the Wicklows, diverse attractions available, and it’s proximity to Dublin (30 minutes to city center) make it a delightful location for destination weddings in Ireland.

The venue, Powerscourt House and Gardens, is part of the larger Powerscourt Estate. The gardens and cafe are open to the public during the day, but after 5pm the magnificent mansion and gardens are available for exclusive event use. The house has a neoclassical style ballroom adjoined by a large cocktail bar that overlooks the gardens and mountains, a marble hall that works well for indoor ceremonies, a private entrance for access, a terrace for cocktails, a plethora of garden backdrops for outdoor ceremonies and photos and in house catering that prides itself on its Irish hospitality. The House is only a short walk along a tree lined drive to the 5-star Powerscourt Hotel + Resort, so those wanting to have an Irish castle wedding without having to rent out a whole castle for a weekend or more may value the options Powerscourt Estate offers.

The House and Gardens feature:

-a neoclassical ballroom with wood flooring and seating for up to 180 guests.

-a marble hall with exposed brick for indoor ceremonies or peripheral events.

-a large terrace with garden and mountain views for cocktail hour.

-acres of formal gardens for ceremonies and photos.

-a cafe and shops during business hours.

-exclusive evening event usage.

-inhouse catering.

The Estate features:

-the palatial House and Gardens.

-the 5-star Powerscourt Hotel Resort.

-a distillery.

-acres of preserved Irish countryside in the foothills of the Wicklow mountains including cycling, walks, a river and a waterfall.

-a golf club.

While we were there the house’s interior venue spaces were being being refitted so we weren’t able to photograph them, but we’re excited to go back and see it finished!

Thank you to Kerry Jeanne Photography for these beautiful photographs and for being such a wonderful travel partner!
