Bright and Modern Olive Grove Wedding in Puglia

Our darling bride Essie has always been a floral lover. For birthdays and special occasions, she always sends friends and family a lovely arrangement. You can say it is her love language. The design concept for this bright and fresh Italian destination wedding started with her love of fresh colorful flowers. It was all about big blossoming blooms. We selected the venue, Masseria Angiulli Piccolo, for its simple architecture and clean white palette, so the floral design would be the main focal point. When we toured the venue and saw the large olive tree in the middle of the lawn, we knew that it was the perfect spot for the ceremony. We used bougainvillea, characteristically Italian, as the main focus and worked with the floral designer to add in complementary blooms. We then littered the aisle with bougainvillea petals. It became one of our favorite design elements of the day.

One of the highlights of the day was when Essie surprised Adam (the groom) with a gelato cart. She said that before he came to Italy, he had never had a proper gelato and claimed he didn’t like it. After his first bite of an authentic gelato in Italy, he was hooked and would stop at gelaterias multiple times a day throughout their vacay. Instead of having the cart serving after dinner, we decided to serve the guests as they arrived for the ceremony. It was blistering hot and the welcome of a cool gelato and refreshing prosecco put guests in the right mood.

Right after the ceremony, the band lead guests to the cocktail hour, where they entertained the guests with fun and festive Italian swing/jazz songs. The band was a hit. Wearing suspenders and dawning mustaches straight from the 20’s, they entertained with banjos and used a megaphone as a microphone. They kept the guests dancing under the stars well into the night.
