Irish Spring Destination Wedding at The K Club
Texas based college sweethearts Rachel and Joesph have attended (and been in) more weddings than they can count. For their own wedding, they knew they wanted to have an intimate destination wedding for their nearest and dearest somewhere special that they could all relax and enjoy a long weekend of celebrating their union. They hankered for a place that was fun and enchanting but not your typical warm weather environs or too much travel hassle for their guests. They opted for a quick hop over the Atlantic directly to Ireland.
The Emerald Isle with its rolling countryside, cozy pubs, numerous castles, majestic cliffs, stately gardens, prolific golf courses and renown hospitality provided a magical backdrop in which to welcome the wedding party and guests. A convenient half hour outside of Dublin and in the idyllic pastoral countryside of Co. Kildare, Rachel and Joseph decided on the regal K Club for their wedding venue.
There’s nothing quite like Spring in Ireland, so it was fortunate that the date was set for the end of May and Rachel's wedding dreams were filled with visions of pastels, lush flowers, formal garden parties and pretty details (like calligraphy, illustrations and hand painted details).
The Friday started with golf and spa sessions followed by the rehearsal dinner in a Victorian orangery at the Cliff at Lyons followed by welcome drinks at the cozy bar with a hobbit like round door overlooking an old mill while listening to live music.
The Irish weather gods blessed Rachel and Joseph with a light mist of early morning rain on the wedding day (good luck as the proverb suggests), but dried in time for their mid afternoon garden ceremony. Guests were welcomed with sparkling wine and music from a three piece strings trio then after the ceremony paraded with a saxophone in the lead to the reception. Cocktail hour and jazz was on the terrace by the pond, after which the guests moved indoors and enjoyed a six course meal of epicurean Irish delights. After dinner, toasts, and cake cutting, the newlyweds open the dance floor with a choreographed number to ‘Beyond’ by Leon Bridges (a nod to hometown- Ft Worth, Texas). Their party danced the night away with the Event Band keeping the energy high, only stopping for cake and late night snacks. Rachel and Joseph exited through a twinkling aisle of sparklers to a vintage Rolls Royce.
On Sunday afternoon before guests departed, they enjoyed a farewell BBQ lunch at the local pub where they got to relive the memories of the night before and say goodbye as many departed either for home or their next European adventure.
Thank you to the amazing team that made this magical day happen!
