Retro Desert Wedding

When it comes to weddings, the only rule is to make it an expression of who you are as a couple. For this #weddingwednesday we have for you a great example of two people who did away with formalities and made their day, their way. Brooke and Chris split their time between their home in Toronto and their home-away-from home, in the Mojave National Preserve. When Chris proposed in the Mojave, they knew they wanted to host their wedding in some type of desert setting to honor that special moment and their love of the high desert landscape. Joshua Tree was an obvious choice and the funky eclectic environment at Rimrock Ranch was the perfect setting for a weekend long retreat for family and friends from all over the world to come and celebrate together. The bride and groom’s goal was for the wedding day to be laid-back and feel like a casual house party, so instead of a formal sit down dinner and rigid timeline, we oped for a roving reception style event. Guests helped themselves to aguas frescas and tacos with handmade tortillas then enjoyed lawn games and a polaroid camera station. After a breathtaking desert sunset, a live band accompanied by fire dancers kicked the party into high gear. As the night came to a close, guests gathered around a roaring bonfire to cuddle up in Mexican blankets and cook s’mores. At the end of the weekend, guests felt relaxed and truly bonded to one another, and departed with lots of memories of romance in the high dez!

Many thanks to the fabulous vendor team below, who helped us make the day a success.
