Black + Pink Modern Northwest Tropical
We love designing parties of all shapes and sizes, but definitely have a soft spot for small, intimate affairs! Black Door PDX, Portland, Oregon’s newest intimate event space, is the perfect spot to host a myriad of petite events and we were so thrilled to have the first opportunity to showcase just how amazing this space can be. The high-end, modern aesthetic inspired the details of this inspirational shoot. We knew that we wanted to take the black and white palette of the venue, and dress it up with sophisticated pale blushes, light gray, fresh spring green tones, and with a few seductive mauves! The stark contrast of black can often result in a cold feeling, but we love how, focusing on the lighter tones can create a scene that’s warm and inviting. We call this look: classy with a hint of Palm Springs. :)
See Level Design Co partnered with Ashwood Avenue to tie together luxurious, yet modern elements (tassels + acrylic, paper + velvet). Their unique welcome sign that swivels into a seating chart is incredibly innovative, and will definitely inspire people. We find that paper goods and signage really elevate a look and can be the perfect way to tie in the juxtapositions of modern and romantic.
Spring flowers!!! Oh how we love this time of year. Bramble Floral Design created a stunning hanging installation that became the focal point of the room. The mingling of dried foliage, tropical fronds and delicate spring blooms creates a visual piece that is so stunning, with so much character and depth. The use of the palms climbing the walls surrounding the lounge, along with living plants brought in from Pomerius Nursery, create vibrancy, interest and another focal point for the event space.
We love how Luxe Sucre created a cake with a nod to the various greenery elements from the shoot. The second and third tiers feature images of the underside of magnolia leaves, which carry all of the colors this palette we was inspired by.
We’re so thrilled to now have our LA friend Archive Rentals located up here in Portland! Their rental selection as well our friends’ over at The Party Place, gave us plenty of beautiful tabletop and furniture rental options to play with.
A big thank you as well to Devil’s Food Catering for creating such an amazing spread for the launch party that coincided with the shoot.
These beautiful images are the stunning work of When She Knew who is a master at her craft. Feast your eyes friends! .
